Premiered in the closing ceremonies of the 1980 Winter Olympics.
Three Fanfares was created for the closing ceremonies of the 1980 Winter Olympics hosted in Lake Placid, New York. The piece begins as John Curry skids into the rink with a hockey slide, spraying ice before he stops in the center. More aggressive than its predecessor After All, Three Fanfares demonstrates Curry’s talent and discipline with a bold attack. The piece closes with a choreographed cool-down composited of movements that Curry would normally do after practice.
