Description

Patrick Dupond, then artistic director of the Paris Opera Ballet, approached Tharp to create a duet for étoile Isabelle Guerin and himself. The music is comprised of excerpts from Paul Simon’s album “Rhythm of the Saints.”

 

Sections of complex partnering alternate with explosive traveling phrases and idiosyncratic solos. Grand Pas: Rhythm of the Saints is a good-natured display of the artistry and personalities of these consummate dancers.
