The finale of The Catherine Wheel was first performed as a stand-alone excerpt nearly two years after the Broadway production. In The Golden Section, dancers wear gilded athletic outfits as they soar through the space; the choreography bursts with momentum. There exists between the dancers a spirit of fraternity and trust. The partnering is difficult, even dangerous, and the dancers show their faith in one another by diving in head first, knowing that their partners will be there to catch them.
