Description

The Hodge Podge is a compendium piece, containing excerpts from Give And Take as well as a number of pedestrian elements from Tharp’s earlier works: eggs were dropped (Re-Moves), a chair smashed (Disperse) and the dancers swapped clothing while reading aloud from a book and chewing gum (Dancing In The Streets...).

The final two sections were premieres set to the music of Paul Simon. Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover, a solo for Tharp, was accompanied live by Simon. The solo introduced Simon Medley, which was performed immediately after to four of Simon’s recordings.
