abstract
Set to varied salutations in soaring brass by three different composers,
Tharp's tri-toned solo takes a male skater on a smooth, sweeping circuit of
a ice arena as it exudes a mood of private triumph and personal artistry.
Simple, gentle, floating positions and postures evolve almost unendingly as
suitable, yet sometimes surpirsingly piquant, physical grace-notes elaborate
the dance on ice. The inimitable artistry of the innovative Curry remains
closely linked to the unusual and fresh emphases in Tharp's ice choreography.
